photoINDIANAPOLIS - Two Middle Tennessee athletic programs have earned Public Recognition Awards as released by the NCAA on Wednesday.

Blue Raider men's golf and women's golf were recognized by the award which is based on their most recent multi-year Academic Progress Rates. It marks the fourth straight year the men's golf program has been recognized and the first for the women's team.

These awards are given each year to teams scoring in the top 10 percent in each sport with their APRs. The Blue Raiders are one of five Conference USA teams to have multiple programs honored.

The men's golf program, under the leadership of head coach Whit Turnbow, has advanced to six NCAA Regionals in the last seven years. However, even more impressive is the fact the program has recorded a perfect APR score of 1000 in each of those seven years.

The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester or quarter by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete. The APR includes eligibility, retention, and graduation in the calculation and provides a clear picture of the academic culture in each sport. Below is a complete listing of Conference USA teams receiving the Public Recognition Award. For more information on the Academic Progress Rate, please log on to www.ncaa.org.
