photoIRVING, Texas – Middle Tennessee standout golfer Brett Patterson was named the Conference USA Men's Golf Scholar Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive season, as announced by C-USA commissioner Britton Banowsky on Thursday. The winners were determined by the league's Faculty Athletics Representatives.

The McMinnville native boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA with a major in business administration. Patterson is a three-time All-Conference and NCAA Tournament participant. The redshirt senior was given the Middle Tennessee President's Award in 2012 and 2014 for his academic success.

Patterson, who earlier earned Capital One Academic All-American honors, is a two-time C-USA Men's Golf All-Academic Team member. He was a First-Team All-Conference USA selection in 2014 and concluded his career with a 73.8 career stroke average. During the 2014-15 campaign, Patterson competed in 11 events for the Blue Raiders with a season-best round of 71 at the Mobile Sports Authority Invitational and posted an eighth-place finish at the C-USA Men's Golf Championship.

The C-USA Scholar Athlete of the Year awards are presented to the top student-athletes in each conference-sponsored sport. The award is based on academic achievement (GPA), athletic achievement and service.

Scholar-athletes were selected from C-USA's full-time and affiliate institutions in 19 sports (combining indoor and outdoor track & field). Charlotte led the way with five student-athletes receiving the Scholar Athlete Award.
