BASEBALL, MEN'S TENNIS HONORED FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Two Middle Tennessee sports were recognized for excellence in academics during 2014-15 by Conference USA Friday.

Middle Tennessee baseball and men's tennis were honored with Sport Academic Awards by C-USA.

The Sport Academic Award is given to the team in each conference-sponsored spot with the highest GPA for the academic year.

The Blue Raider baseball team sported a cumulative GPA of 3.21 during 2014-15 to earn the baseball award; while men's tennis racked up a combined 3.52 GPA to earn the men's tennis award.

Rice University earned the 2014-15 Conference USA Institutional Excellence Award. The Institutional Excellence Award is given to the C-USA institution with the highest grade point average during the 2014-15 academic year for all student-athletes in conference-sponsored sports. Rice student-athletes combined for an annual GPA of 3.246, giving the Owls their eighth award over the past 10 years.
