MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee earned its 15th consecutive College Team Academic Award in 2016 with
a team grade point average of 3.34, as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association
of America.
In order to qualify for the NSCAA award teams must carry a minimum grade point average
of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year.
The Blue Raiders have accomplished the feat in every year of Head Coach Aston Rhoden's tenure at Middle Tennessee.
"I'm extremely proud of our team for receiving this award as it serves as an indication
to our consistent commitment to the academic achievement of our student athletes,"
Rhoden said. "Our players work very hard in the classroom.
"With the support of the Student Athlete Enhancement Center staff, in particular Ms.
Debbie Carroll, as well as the soccer coaching staff, we continue to maintain a high academic standard
for our program."
Middle Tennessee was one of 592 women's programs across the country to be honored
while 326 men's soccer programs were also recognized by the NSCAA with the College
Team Academic Award.
