MTSU has a combined M.A and Ed.S. program that was first approved by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) in 1991. As of August 1, 2012, we earned NASP Approval-Conditional (National Recognition with Conditions) through December 31, 2014. Thus our program retains NASP approval and our graduates remain eligible for national certification through that date. Additionally, we continue to have State of Tennessee approval by the Department of Education to recommend licnesure. Possible outcomes of NASP's reveiw of our program's conditional report are that our program may be granted NASP approval-full or that approval may be denied to us.
Our faculty and administration are committed to retaining the NASP approval that we first earned in 1991 and that we have maintained continuously since then.
The psychology department has an ongoing relationship with the Center for the Study and Treatment of Dyslexia. Students get detailed training in assessment and intervention with students who have dyslexia through didactic and practicum experiences at the Dyslexia Center, as well as in neighboring school districts.
