School Psychology

MTSU has a combined M.A and Ed.S. program that was first approved by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) in 1991. As of February 2014, we earned NASP Re-Approval (National Recognition). Thus our program retains NASP approval and our graduates remain eligible for national certification until our next NASP-review cycle in approximately 2020.  Additionally, we continue to have State of Tennessee approval by the Department of Education to recommend licensure.

Our faculty and administration are committed to retaining the NASP approval that we first earned in 1991 and that we have maintained continuously since then.

The psychology department has an ongoing relationship with the Center for the Study and Treatment of Dyslexia. Students get detailed training in assessment and intervention with students who have dyslexia through didactic and practicum experiences at the Dyslexia Center, as well as in neighboring school districts.
