 Myeshia Burchett

Myeshia BurchettWhy are you running for a position within the Student Government Association?

SGA is the most powerful organization on campus that provides students with a voice and the ability to make a change and improve the college environment for other students. I am running for the position of senator for the college of behavioral and health sciences because I recognize issues that need to be addressed and honestly care about and respect the thoughts and ideas of my peers. I am a hard working person who is always determined to put my best effort forward in achieving any goal. I strongly believe that anything is possible with work ethic, motivation and most importantly faith.

If you were elected to the SGA, what would you do to improve the quality of student life at MTSU?

If elected to serve SGA I would put my all into working with other senators for the college of behavioral and health sciences and well as other members of SGA to assure that initially the concerns of the students are being recognized. I would then work hard in addressing these issues in a timely manner. Most importantly, if elected I would make sure that the student life at MTSU is one that every student feels a part of. I would work hard to make sure that MTSU remains a diverse environment with numerous activities that allows every student to feel like a true BLUE RAIDER.

Jauwon CainWhy are you running for a position within the Student Government Association?

I am running for the position of a College of Behavioral and Health Sciences Representative .I believe that throughout life, I wanted to always uplift people and I feel that I would bring someone with much tenacity  to help improve the organization.  I genuinely care about the concerns of students in our college, and I believe that I qualify to hold the Senate position.  Also, I have been an active member of the Collegiate 100 Black Men of MTSU since Spring 2011. I believe that the skills that I have gained in the Collegiate 100 Black Men experience have helped me grow as a leader and have enabled me to improve my capability of fulfilling the responsibilities of a SGA College of Behavioral and Health Sciences Representative.  I am a very approachable person and would love to help improve this college in whichever way I possibly can.

If you were elected to the SGA, what would you do to improve the quality of student life at MTSU?

Upon being elected as a Senator, I will listen to the many voices of the students in the college and present legislation to get their concerns heard and fulfilled. I would vote on other legislations as well, that will help benefit the people at MTSU. My mission would be being another piece of the bridge in our university through uplifting and helping the people persevere in the College of Behavioral Sciences.

 Andrea Craft

Andrea CraftWhy are you running for a position within the Student Government Association?

I am running for Senate to inform students of all different backgrounds that getting involved is crucial. Many students (especially Freshman and international students) don't engage in student involvement because they feel that being from a foreign place will set them apart. Freshman have a hard time adjusting from high school to college and as a former high school tutor and compassionate individual I'd love to help them overcome that.

If you were elected to the SGA, what would you do to improve the quality of student life at MTSU?

If I were selected to serve for SGA I would not only encourage students but physically bring them to as many student involvement events as possible. Many students are paying for features on campus but they don't use them. For example everyone's tuition went into building the rec. center but few students actually go. As a member of the senate for SGA I would bring more and more students with me whenever I go to yoga, zumba fitness, water aerobics, etc. This campus is a great place to be; recently we went bowling at LTA and I'd love to bring even more students the next time.

If you were elected to the SGA, what would you do to improve the quality of student life at MTSU?

 Kegan Fuller

Kegan Fuller Why are you running for a position within the Student Government Association?

I am running for this position because I am willing and more than happy to dedicate my time and talents to the Student Government Association here at MTSU. I know the importance of this position and I take it seriously. I see all that the Student Government Association has accomplished and I want to play a part in the great things that are to come in the future. This position will allow me to utilize my leadership skills and be a true blue leader.

If you were elected to the SGA, what would you do to improve the quality of student life at MTSU?

If I were to receive the honor of serving for SGA, there are many things I would like to do to benefit the student body. I want to see our student body more involved and grab onto all the opportunities MTSU has for all of us. There are many ways to become involved and participate in events and I want to make sure the student body is aware of this. Also, one of my favorite events that SGA coordinates is Student Appreciation Week. This is a week to give back to the student body. I want to make this week an even bigger event to truly show the students here that they are important and without them MTSU wouldn't be the school it is today.

 Renisha Hall

Renisha Hall Why are you running for a position within the Student Government Association?

I am running for the position of Senator of Behavioral and Health Sciences because I want to get more involved with my student body as well as my college of major interest. Not only will I be able to address some concerns for myself and others but also to display good leadership, networking and public relation skills.

If you were elected to the SGA, what would you do to improve the quality of student life at MTSU?

If selected to serve for SGA, I would first consider the interests and opinions of the student body and see what really matters to them, what they are most dissatisfied with about the university and what specifically they would like to see changes in. Since I will be serving for my student body, I think it is very important for me to consider their interests and be a voice for them. I would also implement more programs and seminars that focus on healthy living and healthy lifestyles primarily for college students.

 Ashley Johnson

Ashley JohnsonWhy are you running for a position within the Student Government Association?

The two main reasons that I am running for a position in SGA are because I want to get more involved on campus and because I know that I would be a great candidate. Now that I am almost finished with my freshman year at MTSU, I am positive I can handle more and am ready to get as involved in this community as I possibly can. I want to be someone that people can go to if they have concerns about anything or ideas about what they would like to see change at MTSU. I pride myself in being someone who is a hard worker and is easily approachable, which I believe are two important qualities that a Senator needs to have in order to be successful as a member of SGA.

If you were elected to the SGA, what would you do to improve the quality of student life at MTSU?

If I were selected to serve for SGA, what I would do in order to improve the quality of student life at MTSU would be to listen to the opinions that students have. I want to be someone who people feel comfortable going to with problems they see at MTSU that they think need to be fixed. If people can communicate what is wrong and what they would like to see change, I would like to try and make legislature if possible to change it as a Senator for SGA. By listening to what people want to see happen at MTSU, I think that I could really help improve the quality of student life in whatever way the students want it to be improved.

 William Matthew Jones

William JonesWhy are you running for a position within the Student Government Association?

I am running for this position in hopes that within my time left here, at this proud and historic university, that I may have the opportunity to help my fellow students by making some of the more important decisions affecting the university, its staff, and most important its student body. I also am hoping by serving in this Senate position that I may be able to promote the strong and enduring campus life and spirit on and off this campus that I have called home for the last four years.

If you were elected to the SGA, what would you do to improve the quality of student life at MTSU?

Assuming I am elected, I would like to see improvement with some of the on campus businesses, in particular I would like to see a change in the Post Office hours of operation. For some students receiving a package it is closed before they get out of class in time to retrieve said package. I would also like to see or maybe even start a plan to remove the student enforcement of the tobacco free policy on campus. I for one would not listen to a fellow student on campus tell me what to do; I'm sure plenty of other students can relate. However, I believe that if we allow the faculty and staff of the university enforce the rule it might be more productive.

 Hannah Lee

Hannah Lee Why are you running for a position within the Student Government Association?

My passion for being a TRUE BLUE Raider has only continued to grow in my time at MTSU. I have learned so much about what it means to truly serve the student body at MTSU and to be a representative voice for them. Being involved in all facets of campus has taught me the importance of continuing to pursue my role as not only a leader, but a volunteer as well. There is not a more beneficial way I would love to do that than to serve MTSU as a senator for the College of Behavioral and Health Science.

If you were elected to the SGA, what would you do to improve the quality of student life at MTSU?

One big thing I have learned in life is that, if we don't work together effectively, we won't be able to accomplish very much. After playing an active role on SGA for the past 2 years, I have been taught the qualities necessary to persevere in the hard times to get the job done. I want to help instill this quality in the student body at MTSU so that, as a TRUE BLUE family, we can see success in all that we do.

 AuDarius Miller

AuDarius Miller Why are you running for a position within the Student Government Association?

I am running for one of the senate positions of the Student Government Association because I want to be apart of a machine that is working to change Middle Tennessee State University in a positive way. I see the senate making a huge change on this schools campus and I know that I can be a great assist to helping. I feel my purpose on this earth is to help and by joining the Student Government Association I feel as my purpose would be served. Also with me currently serving as a senator I feel as if I should be re elected to continue to serve my school.

If you were elected to the SGA, what would you do to improve the quality of student life at MTSU?

Seeing as to how Middle Tennessee State University's student life is already awesome, it could always be better. One of the things I would try to do to improve the student life is to go out and speak to diverse individuals and listen to what they are concerned about and start on trying to fix it. Sometimes I feel as if students want to see more of the arts side on campus, with that being said I say we start having music played in the courtyard maybe every Wednesday to show a fun and musically inclined side to the university. Maybe every Wednesday could be a different genre and cater to all musical needs. That would be my primary take on improving student life.

MTSU is a diverse campus, which allows us to thrive as such a successful university. Everyone plays a crucial role in our school. It will be my personal goal for every student to realize their importance at our university.

 Antoinette Parham

Antoinette Parham Why are you running for a position within the Student Government Association?

I am running for SGA Senate because I think that I would be a great representative for the student body. I have held numerous leadership positions in my past as a high school student. I know how to follow and I think that knowing how to follow is an important quality a leader should have. I also know how to listen and I really care about MTSU and the student body.

If you were elected to the SGA, what would you do to improve the quality of student life at MTSU?

If I were selected to serve for SGA, I would do numerous things to improve the quality of student life at MTSU. I would do research of my own, asking students what they like and dislike. I would ask what would be some of the things they'd like to do, what would make campus more fun or helpful for them. I would give my best effort to do everything it takes to achieve those things.

 Tiffani Shaw

Tiffani ShawWhy are you running for a position within the Student Government Association?

I am running for the position of senate because I would love to be the voice of the students. It would be an honor for me to represent the College of Behavioral and Health Sciences. My love and appreciation of Middle Tennessee State University is why I desire to be actively involved in the growth and progression of this campus through being a Senate of this university. Many people only view those with high positions as leaders; however, I feel that it takes a true leader to fulfill any position of the Student Government Association. Each position is an essential component of the university.

If you were elected to the SGA, what would you do to improve the quality of student life at MTSU?

If I were elected to serve for SGA, I will act as an efficient liaison between the students and faculty of Middle Tennessee State University. I will thoroughly communicate the needs and concerns while offering reasonable solutions to issues. Through academic excellence, campus involvement, and community involvement, I would be a positive example of a True Blue student for others to follow. I will uplift and encourage my peers to become more involved so that they may experience the many benefits of being a student of Middle Tennessee State University. I feel that more student involvement will increase the quality and appreciation of student life on this campus.

 Leiya Smith

Leiya Smith Why are you running for a position within the Student Government Association?

I, Leiya Smith, am running for a position as a senator to represent the college of behavioral and health sciences. It will be a wonderful opportunity to represent the students in this college in a positive manner. I love MTSU and if there is a way that I can help get the voices of the student body heard then I would like to do so. My freshman year I was granted the opportunity to serve as a freshman council member and I loved it. Sometimes the freshman council was able to sit in and listen to the senate meetings. I aspire to be a senator because they have a big impact on the school and have the tools to pass legislation and make positive changes.

If you were elected to the SGA, what would you do to improve the quality of student life at MTSU?

I would do the best that I could to help the senate improve on any issue on campus that can be resolved. The SGA is the voice of the students and it is the job of SGA to listen to the students that we serve and be the best representative that we can be.

 Danah Tatum

Danah Tatum Why are you running for a position within the Student Government Association?

I am running for senate to become a more productive student at MTSU. I would like to become more connected to the student government community and I believe I can successful help others become more involved as well with this position. I aspire to help bring the student body together as one, and form an even stronger bond that makes our school so special. I feel that SGA is the perfect way to better myself, help others, and show my blue raider pride for our university.

If you were elected to the SGA, what would you do to improve the quality of student life at MTSU?

Many students at MTSU do not have the chance to voice their opinion when it comes to campus wide events. In order to improve the quality of student life at MTSU, I would like to make a monthly poll accessible to all students so that campus wide events can be chosen by the student body. This poll would increase student awareness of different events, increase the outcome of participation, and help all students feel as though they have a voice within their college community. I also would like to integrate a session in customs to inform upcoming freshman of all the organizations MTSU has to offer so they can also become an active member in their college community.

 Christa Taylor

Christa Taylor Why are you running for a position within the Student Government Association?

I am running for Senator of the College of Behavioral and Health Science, because I feel that I will be able to make a difference in my college community. I am seeking to be one of the many go-to people around campus that my fellow peers can depend on to bring notice to any issues or specific interests that may occur at any point in time. I have held numerous leadership positions throughout majority of the organizations I have been a part of, including Vice President of Student Government of John Overton High School. I have received leadership training, and whether there's a need for a follower or a leader, I can fulfill both positions when necessary.

If you were elected to the SGA, what would you do to improve the quality of student life at MTSU?

If I were selected to serve for SGA, I would improve the quality of student life at MTSU by first addressing the concerns of those attending university. The most important part of this role is to be a leader and represent the students. I would focus my thoughts and efforts on those that I may hopefully receive a chance to represent. My mission is to address aspects concerning the many areas of college life, including housing, dining, community service, and outreach. There are many improvements that can be made, and I will do any and everything possible to see that they are change for the better of this community.
