 Jared Adams

Jared Adams Why are you running for a position within the Student Government Association?

After serving on the SGA Executive Board for a year as Attorney General, you truly notice just how important Senate is to the progression of Student Government, as well as the University it serves. Being an SGA Senator really can make a difference to the student body. Having served a year on Senate before, I know the importance of legislation and the impact that we can make as a Student Government. Being a Senator is about much more than attending weekly meetings, it is about doing what is necessary to ensure that the things you do for the students really do resonate. I am running for the position of Senator for the College of Liberal Arts and hope to garner your vote!

If you were elected to the SGA, what would you do to improve the quality of student life at MTSU?

There are numerous ways that SGA helps to improve life on and off campus. Whether that be passing legislation, philanthropic work for the community, creating school spirit events like Homecoming and Road Rally, or simply showing our love for the students during Student Appreciation week. As an SGA Senator I hope to better these events and work closely with the new Executive Board and University administration to make each students college experience here at MTSU the best it could possibly be! Being a True Blue Raider means more than just showing up to sporting events and cheering for our team. It requires showing appreciation and respect to the campus and living life according to the values that have been expected of us. I hope that as a Senator I can show my True Blue spirit and help to make this year the best yet for the MTSU community!

 Alexandria Bassett

Alexandria Bassett Why are you running for a position within the Student Government Association?

I am running for the Senate position of the College of Liberal Arts, because I feel as though I am adequately fit for this position. I enjoy sharing many ideas for the improvement of my school, community, and city. I have always wanted to get involved with the Student Government Association at Middle Tennessee State University, and I believe that this is the perfect time. I have taken part in numerous leadership organizations, aimed in strengthening my leadership and communication skills. I am willing to grow even more as a person and leader on this MTSU campus. I want to be the voice for the students here at MTSU, because no voice should go unheard. I believe that I could be a great aspect to the SGA.

If you were elected to the SGA, what would you do to improve the quality of student life at MTSU?

In order to improve the quality of student life at MTSU, I would first start by reaching out to the students at MTSU. In order to have an engaged and happy student body it is important to know exactly what the students want. Therefore, I would take the initiative of getting to know various students within our diverse student body and just simply take the time out to ask them what types of things they want to see on campus. No idea from any student would go unconsidered or ignored, because everyone's ideas and opinions are and can be very valuable.

 Kelley Benson

Kelley Benson Why are you running for a position within the Student Government Association?

I would like to be a senator for the College of Liberal Arts for many reasons. I served on SGA senate for the past year and have found a true passion for helping others. SGA gives me meaning as a student, and has helped me reach out to a variety of people. As an Organizational Communication major, I am a part of the College of Liberal Arts, and I would love the ability to represent the students in my college. I am very passionate about this campus and believe it is my mission to make it better every day. By electing me to be a senator for this college I will make it my obligation to listen to students concerns, develop our college, and to take action as a leader.

If you were elected to the SGA, what would you do to improve the quality of student life at MTSU?

As a member of SGA I would take action to improve the quality of student life by being involved on campus and reaching out to as many students as possible. Students are the center of this campus and should know they can make a difference at MTSU. As a senator for SGA I would always be there for my fellow students to listen to their concerns and take it upon myself to have them heard. I believe the more students know they matter, the better our student life will be.

 Devin Lee Hawthorne

Devin Lee Hawthorne Why are you running for a position within the Student Government Association?

I would love to represent the college of Liberal Arts. I have enjoyed my experience with Student Government for the last two years. I love being able to contribute ideas and experiences that could better improve the campus I love. Representing 500 of my peers is not an easy task, but I am committed to reaching out and listening to what students want and to make my best judgment when voting. Letting students know that I am a senator has encouraged people to talk to me about issues, which helps me with legislation. Being a senator mean being involved in an organization I love and doing the job of a senator, which I also love. Thank you for voting!

If you were elected to the SGA, what would you do to improve the quality of student life at MTSU?

I believe Student Government is one of the best resources for students on the MTSU campus. We are the official voice of the student body and have the ability to change serious issues that appear on campus. Student life affects every student and needs to be the main focus. I hope to contribute more ideas on how to better our campus, as a senator. I want to work on legislation that will better our website along with the MTSU app. If these two networks are more user friendly, students will be able to access them more quickly and efficiently. Technology is always changing, and MTSU needs to embrace these changes in return to better the students.

 Brieanna Davis-Little

Brieanna Little Why are you running for a position within the Student Government Association?

I am running for this position because I know that I posses all of the qualities necessary to fulfill each and every obligation of a representative for the College of Liberal Arts. I am an immensely persistent worker. I will take on tough issues to find effective resolutions on the issues we, as students, face.

If you were elected to the SGA, what would you do to improve the quality of student life at MTSU?

I believe that students undergo individual issues more often than collective issues. Although many students may have common concerns or problems, no one has the exact same issues as someone else. Therefore, if I were selected to serve for SGA, I would begin with making it more convenient for students to voice their personal opinion and to suggest changes regarding campus related issues. From there, I would try my best to resolve those concerns of students. The students are the one of the greatest reasons why MTSU is still in existence. Therefore, their opinion and contentment are of utmost significance.

 Haley Logsdon

Haley LogsdonWhy are you running for a position within the Student Government Association?

I am running for the position as a Senator for the College of Liberal Arts because I am very passionate about the Student Government Association. I was a member of the first ever Freshman Council at Middle Tennessee State University during the 2011-2012 year, and am currently an At-Large Senator during the 2012-2013 school year. I like being able to make a difference within SGA and the school and I know that being a Senator is the best way to do that because it always you to be a liaison between the students/staff and SGA.

If you were elected to the SGA, what would you do to improve the quality of student life at MTSU?

If I were chosen to serve another term for SGA I would work to improve the beautification of MTSU's building and campus to help with student life. Having a nicer looking campus in some areas that need work would allow for a more pleasant and happy environment. I would also help students be better informed on events and resources that are available to them that they may not know about (ex: MyMt, CSIL Office, etc.)
