Fall elections will be held September 29 - October 1 for Homecoming King and Queen, Freshman Senate, Graduate Senate, and newly opened senate seats for all colleges, at-large, and undeclared.
If you would like to apply for any of these positions, go to KUC 208 to pick up an information packet.
Important Dates
- Monday, August 31 — candidate packets available in the SGA Office, KUC 208
- Tuesday, September 8 — election packets are due in SGA Office, KUC 208, by 4:00 p.m.
- Tuesday, September 15 — candidate eligibility announced
- Thursday, September 17 — mandatory meeting for qualified candidates (Location:TBA)
- Saturday, September 19 — campaigning begins
- Tuesday, September 29 - Thursday, October 1 — Elections
Important Notes
- Applicant must meet all requirements of position by 4:00 p.m. on September 8.
- If you qualify to run for the position, remember that there is a mandatory candidate meeting on September 17 (location:TBA). If you do not qualify for a position, you will be notified in advance.
- If you would like a banner to be hung outside the KUC for your campaign, you must reserve the space through Jennifer Kirk at 898-2590. For more information, click here.
About SGA Elections
SGA Elections are held every fall and spring. Special elections may also be held. The MTSU Electoral Act establishes clear, proper and equitable procedures for conducting university elections and establishes minimum qualifications for candidates for Student Government Association offices.
The Election Commission
The Election Commission serves to assist the Election Commissioner in fall, spring, and special elections. Duties of those who serve on the Election Commission could be, but are not limited to, serving on the Homecoming Committee, assisting in planning the halftime events of the Homecoming Game and tallying votes. Students who serve on the Election Commission must be able to keep information pertaining to the elections confidential and should remain unbiased at all times.
If you are interested in serving on the Election Commission, please fill out an application and return it to the SGA Office in the KUC no later than 4:00PM on September 8th.
