REMINDERS FOR GRADUATING STUDENTS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FOR GRADUATING STUDENTS

How many hours must I earn to graduate?
At least 132 hours with a minimum 2.000 GPA, some majors require more than 132 hours.

When do I file an Intention to Graduate Form and where do I get the form?
Two semesters prior to graduation. Forms may be obtained from the Records Office, Room 102, Cope Administration Building, or printed from their website.

Am I required to be at the graduation ceremony?
You must be present for graduation unless you notify the Records Office your degree is to be conferred in absentia. Your written request listing the address to which your diploma is to be mailed should be submitted to the Records Office, Room 102, Cope Administration Building before November 29, 2002. You may also complete and submit the absentia form on-line from the Records website. If you do not attend graduation, your name will not be read.

Any graduate requiring special facilities at convocation due to a physical disability should call the Records Office by November 29, 2002. The phone number is 898-5170.

What should I wear to the graduation ceremony?
If you participate in the graduation ceremony, you must follow directions for appropriate dress and regalia. Caps and gowns are available at the Phillips Bookstore at no additional charge. You should wear dark colored shoes (black, if possible). In addition, each candidate for graduation will be sent three complimentary graduation invitations. Additional invitations may be purchased from Phillips Bookstore.

If you are a member of the armed services or are receiving a commission, you may wear your military uniform in lieu of the academic cap and gown.

When do I get my diploma?
Your diploma will be mailed to the address you listed on your Intention to Graduate form. If you have changed your address since you completed this form you must contact Fay Wilson in the Records Office at 898-5170 and provide your new address.

All financial obligations to the university (parking tickets, telephone charges, etc.) must be paid before a diploma will be mailed.
