Orientations are offered in various counties generally in the evenings and on Saturdays, and some day times. The schedule is mailed out two times per year to child care programs, usually in July and Nov./Dec.

The Tennessee Department of Human Services (DHS) recognizes TECTA orientations as a way to satisfy annual training hour requirements. Completion of the 30 clock hour Orientation satisfies 2 years of training requirements.

Participants must complete the 30 hours in order to receive a certificate.

Participants who have taken one type of TECTA orientation may take another type for DHS credit, if approved by DHS.
