Tennessee Writers Alliance
The mission of the Tennessee Writers Alliance is to support the work of Tennessee writers and to enhance the role of literary arts in Tennessee culture by promoting interaction among writers and writing organizations, developing and serving a multicultural audience, and providing opportunities for the professional and artistic development of writers in Tennessee.
Timeless Hemingway
Timeless Hemingway was founded in September, 1998. Originally conceived as a "fan site," Timeless Hemingway has grown to become one of the premiere web sites pertaining to the life and works of Ernest Hemingway. Part of its appeal stems from the fact that its content caters to a wide and diverse audience from those generally interested in Hemingway, to students researching Hemingway, to professional scholars with more advanced needs.
American Booksellers Association
The ABA is a not-for-profit organization which was founded in 1900 expressing a devotion to meeting the needs of its core members of independently owned bookstores with retail storefront locations. Achieving this through advocacy, education, research, and information dissemination, the ABA actively supports free speech, literacy, and programs that encourage reading. The association also hosts the annual ABA Convention in conjunction with BookExpo America each spring.
American Library Association
The American Library Association (ALA) was founded in 1876 in Philadelphia. Its mission is “to provide leadership for the development, promotion, and improvement of library and information services and the profession of librarianship in order to enhance learning and ensure access to information for all.” A network of affiliates, chapters, and other organizations enables ALA to reach a broad audience.
Associated Writing Programs
Since 1967 the Association of Writers & Writing Programs has fosted literary talent and achievement, advanced the art of writing as it is essential to a good education, and has served the teachers, makers, students, and readers of contemporary writing.
Appalachian Writer's Association
In 1983 the Appalachian Writers Association was founded to promote the works of new authors and to celebrate established writers. This program enabled the preservation of the Appalachian literary heritage. The organization seeks members across Appalachia who write in a wide range of genre and disciplines. Members are people from all experiences, stages of career, and ages, as well.
Horror Writers Association
The Horror Writers Association is a worldwide organization of writers and publishing professionals dedicated to promoting dark literature and the interests of those who write it. The association was formed in the late 1980s with the help of many of the greats of this field, such as Dean Koontz, Robert McCammon, and Joe Lansdale.

Mystery Writers of America
Mystery Writers of America is the premier organization for mystery writers and other professionals in the mystery field. This organization watches developments in legislation and tax law, sponsors symposia and mystery conferences, presents the Edgar Awards, and provides information for mystery writers. Membership in MWA is open to published authors, editors, screenwriters, and other professionals in the field.
National Association of Science Writers
The National Association of Science Writers was established in 1934 by a group of science reporters to join forces to improve their craft and encourage conditions that would promote good science writing. Formally incorporated in 1955 with a charter to "foster the dissemination of accurate information regarding science through all media normally devoted to informing the public," its officers have included both freelancers and employees of most of the major newspapers, wire services, magazines, and broadcast outlets in the country. It also welcomes members who are the public information officers on science from government labs, universities and other institutions. The main goal of NASW is to fight for the free flow of science news.
National Writer’s Union
The National Writers Union is the only labor union representing freelance writers in all genres, formats, and media. Members are united in the fact that they work independently.
North Carolina Poetry Society
The NCPS is an all-volunteer organization aiming to foster the writing of poetry; to encourage the study, writing, and publication of poetry; to develop a public taste for the reading of and appreciation of poetry; and to expose diverse populations to poetry.
North Carolina Writers' Network
Through programs that offer ample opportunities for professional growth in skills and insight, the North Carolina Writers' Network serves writers at every stage of development. NCWN builds audiences for literature, advocates for the literary arts and for literacy, and provides information and support services.
Oxford University Poetry Society
The Oxford University Poetry Society is the primary forum at Oxford University for readers and writers of poetry.
PCCC Cultural Affairs
The Poetry Center at Passaic County Community College has received nternational recognition for many of its activities including the Distinguished Poets Series, the Allen Ginsberg Poetry Awards, the Paterson Poetry Prize, the Paterson Fiction Prize, and the Paterson Prize for Books for Young People.

Romance Writers of America is a national non-profit genre writers' association which was founded in Houston, Texas, in 1980 by 37 charter members. The organization organizes writing conferences geared to nurture the careers of romance writers, creating a nationwide network of romance writing peers that share information and support each other.
Science Fiction and Fantasy Writer's of America
Founded in 1965 by Damon Knight, Science Fiction Writers of America, in 1992, officially changed its name to the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, Inc. The organization has brought together the most successful and daring writers of speculative fiction throughout the world. It has grown in numbers and influence and is now widely recognized as one of the most effective non-profit writers' organizations in existence. Over 1200 science fiction and fantasy writers, artists, editors, and allied professionals are members. Each year Nebula Awards are presented for the science fiction or fantasy best short story, novelette, novella, and novel of the year.

The Academy of American Poets
Founded in 1934, the Academy of American Poets was designed to support American poets and to foster the appreciation of contemporary poetry. The International Women's Writing Guild
The Guild was founded in 1976, admist three major movements in society: the human potential movement, the new age with the notion of transformation through spiritual practice, and the women's movement. The Guild fused these movements under the umbrella of writing. The guild stated that through writing, one will access and activate their potential, raise their consciousness and experience the transformation of their former self, and find their voice and become an empowered and authentic woman/person. The guild's way became generic, accessing human potential without becoming clinical accessing the spiritual without becoming institutional or a cult, and accessing the pro-Women's Movement without becoming politicized.
The National League of American Pen Women
Promoting development of the creative talents of professional women in the arts, The National League of American Pen Women consists of local Branches, State associations and Members-At-Large. The League has more than 5,000 members with more than 200 Branches throughout the United States and the Panama Canal Zone.

The Write Stuff
Since 1996 The Write Stuff has been a writing club for young adult writers between the ages of thirteen and twenty-three. There is a monthly newsletter, penpal service, and members may have a panel of peer critics critique their writing.

In 1912, the Authors Guild was first organized as a protective association for writers of books, short stories, articles, etc. The Writers Guild of America is now the sole collective bargaining representative for writers in the motion picture, broadcast, cable, interactive and new media industries. With numerous affiliation agreements with other U.S. and international writing organizations, it is in the forefront of the debates concerning economic and creative rights for writers.
Western Writers of America
Western Writers of America, Inc., was founded in 1953 to promote the literature of the American West and bestow Spur Awards for distinguished writing in the western field.Authors who wrote traditional western fiction were the founders of the organization, but over time the organization attracted historians and other nonfiction authors, young adult and romance writers, and writers interested in regional history.
