MPS Admission Requirements

Graduate Admission Requirements

• (1) Complete an admissions application online at http://www.mtsu.edu/graduate/apply.php
  Please complete the graduate application and select the professional studies degree program.
• (2) The application cannot be processed until a $25 application fee is paid. You can do this online with a credit or debit card.
• (3) Send official transcripts to the MTSU College of Graduate Studies, Sam H. Ingram Building 2269, Middle Tennessee Boulevard, Murfreesboro, TN 37132. You do not need to request transcripts from MTSU.
• (4) Send three letters of reference sent to the MTSU College of Graduate Studies, Sam H. Ingram Building 2269, Middle Tennessee Boulevard, Murfreesboro, TN 37132. Reference forms are available at http://www.mtsu.edu/graduate/pdf/ReferenceForm.pdf

Unconditional Admission

• (1) A bachelor's degree with an undergraduate grade point average of at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale from an accredited college or university.
• (2) An acceptable score on the GRE, generally at least 400 verbal, 500 quantitative and a 4.0 on analytical writing. You can register to take the GRE General Exam at www.ets.org/gre

The MTSU code is 1466. There is no department code. This code will automatically have your score sent to MTSU. If you have previously taken the GRE, the score is valid for 5 years. You can request an official copy from GRE.

Portfolio Option
Applicants with a 2.75 undergraduate GPA and five or more years of professional work experience may submit a portfolio in lieu of the GRE. Details of the Portfolio can be obtained by clicking on: portfolio information, or by contacting the MPS office at (615) 898-5611.

Students will submit portfolio materials to the MTSU College of Graduate Studies, Sam H. Ingram Building 2269, Middle Tennessee Boulevard, Murfreesboro, TN 37132. The portfolio material must be submitted as a packet, not mailed separately. Materials included in the packet will not be returned to the student.

Conditional Admission
Applicants who do not meet the criteria for unconditional admission may apply for conditional admission. A student admitted on conditional status may enroll for only 6 hours of core courses (PRST 6100, 6200, or 6300) the first semester. The student must earn grades of B or better during that first semester in order to continue in the program.
