University College Divisions & Programs
University College has been organized with six distinct divisions under the guidance and support of the Dean's office. Each division targets a specific audience group with unique programs and services.
The Academic Outreach division of University College is designed to meet the unique needs of students whose access to higher education is often limited by family, work, and community demands by extending the resources of the University to create access to educational opportunities and to provide an innovative connection of past experiences and current studies.
The Administration and Finance division of the University College is structured to provide efficient and effective administrative and financial support to the academic and outreach programs of the University College. This Division provides planning and coordination to support the major divisions within college and is broadly accountable for equity and compliance, human resources, grants and contracts, and system procedures and structures.
The Advising Center division of the University College is committed to providing effective academic advising to all undeclared students and students in the Academic Enrichment program and to foster a campus-wide commitment to learning through initiatives such as living/learning communities, and the community reading program.
The Distance Education & Non-Traditional Programs division of the University College meets the unique needs of students whose access to higher education is often limited by family, work, and other responsibilities by removing barriers of time, place, and tradition; supports faculty who deliver course content and degree programs in innovative ways; and fosters a student-centered learning environment to promote the success of non-traditional and adult students.
The Summer Sessions division of the University College is structured to satisfy students' needs by increasing summer academic course offerings; to establish the Summer School as an academically integrated and financially viable entity of the University; to provide opportunities for innovative and experimental programs and activities that fulfill University aims.
The University Studies division of the University College is committed to serving first-year and transfer students newly admitted to the university. The objectives are to work with students to determine their ideal academic placement; to assist them in their transition to the university; and to provide scholastic instruction and support where appropriate. The overarching mission of the department is to provide a firm and stable foundation enabling students to confidently and persistently work towards achieving their goals.
