Course Information
The textbooks are included in the price of the course. Uniform shirts and pants must be purchased before beginning the clinical portion of the course. Please do not purchase uniforms until instructors give the specifications.
Students who successfully complete the course will be eligible to take the State of Tennessee EMT certification exam.
You must have a regular high school diploma or a regular GED certificate and be at least 18 years old to attend. In order to be eligible to take the State of Tennessee EMT certification exam, you must not have any felony convictions. A background check will be required.
The EMT program at MTSU is a non-credit program. You do NOT have to apply for admission to MTSU. This also means that you will not receive any credit toward a college diploma upon successfully completing the course. Because it is a non-credit program, traditional student financial aid (Pell Grants, Stafford Loans, Hope Scholarships, etc.) cannot be used to pay for the class.
The goal of the class is to prepare you for certification as an EMT.
Additional information about the state certification exam may be found at the State of Tennessee website: http://health.state.tn.us/ems/index.htm
This class is eligible for Montgomery GI Bill veteran's benefits. However, you must pay for the class at the time of registration and then be reimbursed by your veteran's benefits.
