Additional Information for Minors

Students fill out upper-division forms with their major advisors after they have earned at least 60 hours and then take them to the Women’s Studies program director, who completes and signs the form as minor advisor.

No course can be counted for credit in both a major and minor (or in two majors or two minors).  Upper division forms should be checked carefully for this conflict.

Courses providing Women’s and Gender Studies minor credit each term can be found on RaiderNet via Class Schedule Search.  Select all subjects in the Subjects box.  Then, scroll down to Attribute Type and select Women’s Studies.  For some courses, only certain sections (taught by Women’s Studies Program faculty) will earn credit.

New courses not in the catalog but approved for Women’s and Gender Studies minor credit will be listed in each semester’s online schedule; however, such courses must be noted on the upper-division form as substitutions, or a substitution form must be completed if the upper-division form has already been submitted.

WMST 4500 is offered Fall term only.  Students seeking to enroll in WMST 4900 (offered Fall and Spring terms only) must have a specific topic in mind and submit a formal proposal the semester before enrolling.  Additional information can be found at http://womenstu.web.mtsu.edu/4900_enrollment_guide.htm .
