in combining mathematics & business coursework into a newly-emerging
career as a financial engineer, stock analyst, broker, investment designer,
option trader, etc.
- Program is flexible and tailored
to the individual. Advanced actuarial exam preparation courses are optional.
- Student may choose to prepare
for Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) testing.
- Major in Mathematics, Concentration
in Actuarial Science.
- Curriculum requirements:
- Major: 48 hours in the department.
- Mathematics core: 21 hours.
- ACSI 2020, 2030, 3020, 3030, 4200
- MATH 2050, STAT 3150
- Actuarial Science courses: 15 hours.
- ACSI 4140, 4220, 4630, 4640
- 1 courses from ACSI 4230, 4240,
4330, 4340.
- Elective courses: 12 hours.
- STAT 4190, 4320.
- 2 mathematics courses as approved
by advisor.
- Minor in the College of Business. Finance,
Economics, Accounting, Information Systems, Management, or Marketing
are good choices.
- ACTG 2110, 2120, ECON 2410, 2420, and
at least 1 course from FIN 3610, 3660, 3710.
- CSCI 1170 and another Computer Science
or Information Systems course.
