WELCOME TO GREEK AFFAIRS

Be a Leader

BE…A Leader – Being Greek means being a leader. Membership in a fraternity or sorority provides students with the opportunity to develop leadership skills through chapter leadership, event planning, leadership conferences and nationally recognized leadership development programs, and Greek membership also serves as a springboard for involvement in other areas of campus life. A majority of Student Government Senators, student ambassadors and student orientation assistants are members of a Greek organization at MTSU.

Be a Scholar

BE…A Scholar – Being Greek means being a scholar. Greek organizations have a number of academic development programs for both new members and older members. Greek new members have access to chapter study sessions, study files, chapter mentoring programs, and increased faculty interaction outside the classroom. Fraternity and sorority members at MTSU consistently outperform non-Greek students in the classroom. The all-Greek GPA at MTSU for Spring 2006 was a 2.803, compared to an all non-Greek GPA of 2.775

Be a Servant
BE…A Servant – Being Greek means being a servant. Greek students at MTSU performed over 36,000 hours of community service last year and raised more than $67,000 for various philanthropies. MTSU Greeks work with a number of community service agencies, including the Boy’s and Girl’s Club, Habitat for Humanity, the American Heart Association, the Arthritis Foundation and many others.

Be a Brother/Sister

BE…A Brother/Sister – Being Greek means being a brother or a sister. Greek organizations were founded based on a set of shared values, and Greek students share a common bond through adherence to those values. Greek organizations share bonding experiences through social functions, intramural sports and participation in a number of campus activities, such as homecoming. The development of meaningful relationships based on a set of shared values has been the focal point of Greek organizations since their inception over 150 years ago.

Add Value to Your College Experience.

Office of Greek Affairs

Greek Affairs Members

The Office of Greek Affairs at Middle Tennessee State University advises the 28 Greek-letter organizations on campus under the umbrella organizations of the North American Inter-fraternity Conference (NIC), the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC), and the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC). The office provides services to Greek organizations and students in four areas:

  • The development of holistic educational programming designed to bridge the gap between in-the-classroom learning and the learning that takes place through involvement in a Greek organization
  • The development of effective organizational leadership, recruitment and risk management policies
  • The management of Greek Row, a state of the art Greek living/learning community housing eight MTSU fraternities
  • The facilitation of effective communication between MTSU Greek organizations, the three Greek governing councils, faculty, staff, alumni, and regional and national Greek organization representatives
