Professor and Coordinator of Music Education Studies Nancy Boone-Allsbrook received degrees in music education from Tennessee Wesleyan College, the University of Tennessee and the University of Illinois. She is Professor of Music at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee where for the past 20 years she has taught music education methods classes, graduate music education courses and for 3 years Kindergarten through Grade 6 at the University Laboratory School. Dr. Boone-Allsbrook is currently Coordinator of Music Education Active in MENC and ACDA, Nancy co-founded and continues to co-coordinate the Mountain Lake Colloquium for Teachers of General Music Methods held since 1991 at Mountain Lake, Virginia. She has been a visiting lecturer at Boston University, the University of Illinois, University of Kentucky, University of South Dakota, East Carolina University, University of Virginia, and Belmont University and was a guest conductor in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, Georgia, Illinois, Alabama. Dr. Boone-Allsbrook is respected for her work with children's choirs; members of her choir appear on the recordings that accompany Silver Burdett MUSIC. The Middle Tennessee State University Children's Choir has sung at St. John the Divine in New York City, the University of Chicago and many state and regional MENC and ACDA meetings. She was one of four contributors to the book, Choral Music for Children: An Annotated List and co-editor for the Strategies for Teaching Music Methods Classes. |
