- Minimum 2.5 grade point average, overall
- Completed application
- Conference with Internship Director in advance of registration

Academic Credit
In most circumstances, no more than six credits may be earned from Political Science 4270 - Political Campaign Internship. Certain exceptions to this rule exist, such as those interns who work full time for an entire semester for campaign, usually out of state. Up to six credits may be applied to the Political Science major and up to three credits may be applied to the Political Science minor. Any hours beyond those applicable toward the major or minor are counted as electives. Every three credits requires at least 120 contact hours working for the campaign. All credits are pass / fail.
Course Requirements
- A final report of approximately ten typed pages should be delivered to the Internship Director prior to the last day of classes of the semester in which the intern is registered. This paper should include a brief description of the candidate, the office sought and the campaign’s activities (3 pages), the intern’s duties and activities on the job (5 pages), and a candid evaluation of the experience (2 pages).
- A written note from the intern’s supervisor must be mailed, emailed or delivered to the Internship Director prior to the last day of classes of the semester in which the intern is registered. This note should verify the number of hours worked, duties and activities of the intern, and general deportment and work quality of the intern. The intern is responsible for seeing that her/his supervisor sends such a note so that it arrives prior to the last day of classes of the affected semester.
