The
psychology department at MTSU offers three majors leading
to the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree, as well as six
minors. The first major, Psychology, is a 38-hour program
designed for students who have a variety of career goals
and interests. The second major, PreGraduate Psychology,
is a 41-hour concentration designed for students who plan
to pursue graduate education in Ph.D. psychology programs
or research-intensive masters programs. Students must formally
apply and be admitted to this program. The third major, Industrial-Organizational
Psychology, is a 46- hour program designed to (a) prepare
students for entry-level positions in human resource departments
of business and industries and (b) provide a background for
students wishing to pursue graduate work in psychology, industrial-organizational
psychology, or related fields.
The
department also offers M.A. degrees in five graduate programs,
an Ed.S. degree in School Psychology, and a Master
of Education in Professional Counseling. M.A. degrees are
offered in Clinical Psychology, Experimental Psychology,
Quantitative Psychology, Industrial-Organizational Psychology,
and a Pre-Specialist in Education: School Psychology. The
Master of Education in Professional Counseling has two concentrations:
School Counseling and Mental Health Counseling.
The
department main office is located in room 103 of Jones
Hall. Our regular office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

as the department chair.
