DECLARATION OF PROGRAM CHANGE (CHANGE
OF MAJOR)
Within
Same College - Use the 111 screen for the current
term. Tab to the Major field, key in the new code and press
the ENTER key. If the student is pre-registered for a future
term(s), you must change the major on the 111 screen for
those terms also, otherwise, the major will revert back
to the old major when we get to that term. You can determine
if a student is registered for future term(s) by looking
at the 1E1 screen.
- If
you get the "Student may be activated in the term"
message when you call up the 111 screen, DO NOT
change anything on this screen.
- If
the student has filed an upper-division form and declared
a major, you will not be able to make changes on this
screen (there won't be any underlines on the screen).
Have the student file a new upper-division form in the
new major; the change of major will be done in the Records
Office with receipt of the new form.
- If
you get a change of major for a student that applied for
the prior term but did not register for the prior term,
DO NOT change. Forward these students
to the Admissions office to complete a re-enrollment form.
Across
colleges - Use the CCM screen. A history of the
student's matriculations is listed on the left side of the
screen. On the right side, is the detail of the matriculation
in context. Each time you press the ENTER key, the screen
displays the detail of the next matriculation. Press the
ENTER key until a blank matriculation is shown. Tab to the
fields underlined (College, Degree, Major, Concentration,
and Minor) and key in the proper codes. The system will
enter a degree catalog based on the semester of the new
matriculation. If a different catalog is desired, you can
change it after the new matriculation has been created.
If the student has 2 minors, the second must be entered
on the 111 screen after the major has been
changed on the CCM screen.
- All
changes for graduate level students must be done in the
Graduate office.
- If
the student has filed an upper-division form for the current
major, the CCM will not allow a change of program (there
won't be any underlines on the screen). The student's
program will be changed in the Records Office with receipt
of the new upper-division form.
- The
CCM screen will not allow changes to students who are
on academic suspension.
- The
CCM screen will not allow a student's program to be changed
from Non-Degree seeking (Major code of N) to a degree
seeking program and also Common Market students.
- If
the student is not active in the current term but has
an application for the next term, CCM will not allow the
change; the student must be active in the current term.
This is likely to occur with CUSTOMS students who change
their major before registering for classes. Once the student
registers, the change can be made or the change can be
made on the admissions screen by the Admissions office.
