Proposal Development Program (PDP)

This new program was created to encourage individual faculty and collaborative groups, along with mentors, to submit proposals to highly competitive external agencies and foundations. It is expected that the applicant/mentor relationship, and close interaction with the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, will increase the success rate for these proposals.

The application process for the PDP is different than that for regular FRCPC grants. The intent is to make the application process simple, yet to ensure that the PI(s) and mentor have a preliminary plan about how to proceed. The unique features of PDP proposals are:

  • Two page outline/timeline
  • No formal deadline – electronic submission
  • Expedited review by subcommittee - no written review process
  • Fixed amounts: $2600/writer and $1000/mentor
  • Flexible mechanism for allocation and spending of funding

Application to the PDP does not preclude application to other types of grants awarded by FRCPC, especially in cases where preliminary research results are critical to the success of the proposal.
