Project 4:  Research Flowchart

Instructions:  Develop your own research hypothesis in psychology.  Fill in the following information.

1.  What is the hypothesis (in one or two sentences)?

2.  What is the population of interest?

3.  How will you sample from this population?  Estimate the needed sample size based on past research.

4.  How will you assign participants to conditions (if it is an experiment).  How will you recruit your participants (if it is a survey).

5a.  If the proposal entails the manipulation of an independent variable:

What kind of experimental design will you use?
Describe the independent variables and levels or each independent variable.
     Describe the dependent variables.

5b.  If the proposal is not a true experiment (i.e., there is not a true independent variable)
Is the project a correlational design, or quasi-experimental design?  Explain.
         What variables will be measured?

6.  What controls for internal validity will be used (e.g., randomization, blocking)?

7.  What statistical analyses are planned?

8.  What are the expected findings.
