| Finally SOme Updates... | ||
| Date: | Tuesday, August 23, 2005 | |
| Sorry for the delay, I have been very busy lately! I finally had the chance this evening to sit down at my desk and catch up with the website. I have added a bunch of new photography and we hope to get a short video clip up soon. I have also added a new event to the list. We recieved an invitation from LBSU to attend a collegiate tourny they will be holding. I have also updated all the results that I know of to date. On a sad note, it seems that Performance Marine hyped us up about a boat that they will be unable to get. I wasn't too happy to find this out especially after they tell me personally that everything is set and they are just trying to find a boat. But whatever, I am sure that there are plenty of other dealers out there that will be interested in forming a partnership with MTSU. Enjoy to rest of the summer guys... | ||
| MTSU Wake Raiderz + Tim's Ford Lake = Fun & Excitement | ||
| Date: | Monday, July 18, 2005 | |
| Yesterday, the 2nd Wakeboarding Stop on the INT Amateur Tour was held at Estill Springs City Park on Tim's Ford Lake somewhere in the backwoods of Tennessee. Considering the Weather Channel was calling for a 70% chance of T-Storms, the weather was mostly sunny. Small children were Frollicking Gleefully in the water on the shallow beach-like shorelines of the Mighty Timothy Ford Lake. Seeing as how the Wakeboard Club of MTSU is a wonderful organization always out to support the sport of wakeboarding, we decided to throw a little fund-raiser. We held a $1 raffle and gave away 2 lovley MTSU Wake Raiderz T-shirts. TN INT Coordinator Glen Mitchell was even nice enough to throw in a Wakeboard Tow Rope and Handle as we drew the winners for the raffle (Thanks Glen!). MTSU Collectively took 3 Firsts, 1 Second, and 1 Third. Check the RESULTS page for details. I gave myself, Chris Wolfgram, an early birthday (July 19th, Send $$ to 2101 Elk River Dr, MBoro, TN 37129) present by landing a Backroll and just barely snagging 1st place in the intermediate division. I dedicate that run to Ed, Taylor, and the 2 Michaels who taught me that piece of competition artillery. Even though this sounds cliche, I really thought that Jeremy Murdock also had a winning run; there were less than 100 points seperating our scores. I was also informed that at the double header in Knoxville, TN, there will be a Winner-Take-Purse DOUBLE-UP CONTEST both days. Even though I am probably the worst Double-Up Rider in the world, I promise to put on my own Best-Bust Show. Thanks to eveyone who made yesterday so much fun (winston) and I look forward to seeing Middle Tennessee represented hardcore in Vol Country at the end of the month... |

| Board Bonanza '05 was a Nice Tall Glass of Water | ||
| Date: | Tuesday, July 12, 2005 | |
| Board Bonanza 2005 was a phenomenal success. The weather was nice and hot and so were the ladies. If I had to guess, there were over 70 wakeboard boats tied together in a line. Every single boat was overflowing with riders and their entourages. We were proudly represented by our own Michael Williams and brothers David and Michael Mullis. Michael Williams went big unfortunately ending his run prematurely. David Mullis swept the 22 rider field in the Intermediate WB Class with Indy Tantrums, a 360, and several other Frantrum Variations. His grabs were sick too. Michael Mullis showed what MTSU Wakeboarding is all about taking 2nd place behind Kyle Wells. In case you don't already know, Kyle is professional wakeboarder on the Liquid Force Team. Despite the competition, Mullis pulled a flawless run landing everything but a Mobe (which I've personally seen him land tons of times). Had he taken first place, I would personally pack his luggage and send him on a plane tommorow to live and practice in FLORIDA and compete on the pro tour - surely a scout for some huge team would recognize his stupid talent and scoop him up. Board Boanaza was too much fun and I would encourage everyone and their neighbor to go next year. Until next time, jump on a trampoline... and you stay classy Murfreesboro! | ||
| Good Turnout at Last Nights Meeting | ||
| Date: | Thursday, June 23, 2005 | |
| The meeting last night (6-22-05) was a success. There were 10 people in attendance. We had a collective discussion about Hyperlite Gear whiched helped each member decide on a good final order. I don't think there was a single person on the team who didn't take advantage of the deal we are about to receive. We were also proud to introduce our first MTSU Wake T-Shirts. Not only were the T-Shirt graphics well-liked, but also, the shirts were selling fast @ $12 a pop. After only a day and a half, we have sold 17 of the 25 shirts we had printed in this first order. If you are interested in a shirt, we have 6 guys left and 2 girls left. We also had several new members pay their dues which is really good news. We are beginning to establish some bank, part of which will go immediately to pay American Wakeboarding Association Dues and U.S. Waterski/Wakeboard Association Dues. It is great to see people showing their interest in our club. Shirts are selling, dues are coming in, and most importantly, people are hyped up about wakeboarding and that's what it is all about! Thanks for the support guys and gals...and thanks to MTSU for making this a possibility. | ||
| Hyperlite Group Purchase Date for 05 Season Set for 6/24/05 | ||
| Date: | Friday, June 17, 2005 | |
| Thanks to Hyperlite Rep. Jeremy Baker and TNT Water Sports Owner Craig Archer, all members of the wakeboard club will be able to get a substantial deal on all Hyperlite products. These discounts are very generous and I would advise everyone to consider purchasing some wakeboarding gear. We are planning on submitting the order on next Friday, June 24, 2005. Simply look through a Hyperlite Catalog or get on the Hyperlite Website and decide what you want on your order and call me (Chris) at 615-904-4874. I will be able to apply the discount and tell you how much your order will cost. After we place the order on Friday, it will take up to a couple weeks for the goods to be delivered to the shop. This order will get the wakeboard club hooked up with new Hyperlite gear for the rest of the 05 season. | ||
| Wakeboard Club T-Shirts On The Way | ||
| Date: | Wednesday, June 15, 2005 | |
| Yesterday, we submitted the final design for our first Wakeboard Club T-shirts to Tomahawk Screenprinting & Embroidery. Tomahawk handles a majority of business from MTSU and they do really good work. Since we only have limited funds to work with, this initial order is small. We ordered 20 guys shirts: 3XL, 7L, 8M, 2S, and 5 girls shirts: 3YM, 2YL. The graphics for the shirt can be seen by clicking the link on the homepage of our website. Guys shirts will be MTSU Blue with White Screenprinting and Girls are Heliconia Pink also with White. The shirts will be $12. Members of the club will be given the first opportunity to buy with the remaining shirts sold on a first come first serve basis. The shirts should be ready sometime toward the end of next week. To reserve a shirt, please send an e-mail to wake@mtsu.edu with your name, phone number, and shirt size. | ||
| MTSU Wake Raiderz Represent @ INT Stop #1 on Old Hickory Lake! | ||
| Date: | 2:31am, Monday, June 13, 2005 | |
| The first stop of the INT Tour, scheduled for Sunday, June 12, 2005, at the Lone Branch Rec Area on Old Hickory Lake looked to be a wash out! Despite the horrible aftermath of a hurricane that was making its way through Tennessee, the event was carried out through periods of steady rain and gusty winds. Very few riders were fortunate enough to get a pass free of choppy water and downpours. Fortunately, however, both the riders and the spectators did a great job of making the best of an unpleasant situation. Taking into consideration the conditions, the MTSU Team Riders did a great job repin' the Blue and White. Chris Wolfgram, in his first ever wakeboard tournament, walked away with 2nd Place despite completing only 1 of his 2 passes. Freshman David Mullis took 2nd Place in the Expert Division with a run highlighted by Indy Tantrums. David also rocked the Wakeskate Division with a 1st Place Run. Team Ski Hut/CWB/Jet Pilot/MTSU Rider Michael Mullis nailed a near perfect run and managed to grab a 1st Place finish in the Outlaw Division despite missing a Mobe at the end of his run. Even though the weather sucked, everyone had an impressive ride and I think it’s safe to say that we all had fun. 1st, 2nd, 1st, and 2nd Place Finishes for MTSU; not a bad way to start the season if you ask me. I was really stoked with the way my teammates road, and I am looking forward to the next stop in July. Great riding guys... If sentences in this paragraph make no sense at all, it’s probably because it’s 3 in the morning and I’m about to pass out. Coming from the most non-journalistic person in the world, that pretty much briefly summarized the days festivities. Oh yeah, and to the guy (apology for not knowing your name) who jacked up his abs on the awesome Old Skool Tumble Turn, we hope you have a fast recovery. Goodnight! | ||
| First Practice RAINED OUT! | ||
| Date: | 7:29pm, Monday, June 6, 2005 | |
| After weeks of beautiful weather, it decided to flood on the one day that everyone could come out and ride together. We will be rescheduling to another day sometime this week. Stay tuned... | ||
| First Practice Scheduled | ||
| Date: | 3:05pm, Sunday, June 5, 2005 | |
| We will be meeting tommorow (Monday, June 6th, 2005) at Jefferson Springs on Percy Priest Lake for our first official group practice. Check the "events" page for time and directions. See you there! | ||
| Hyperlite Team Discount | ||
| Date: | Friday, May 20, 2005 | |
| We have recently been informed that we are eligible to receive a group purchase discount on all Hyperlite products: boards, bindings, wakeskates, jackets, etc. As members of the Wakeboard Club of MTSU, you are all entitled and encouraged to take advantage of this generous offer. At this time, we don't know the exact discounted rate but I believe it is atleast at or slightly below cost. We need to schedule another meeting sometime soon so we can further discuss the details. We can only make one purchase per season so we need to get an order together and get hooked up for the summer. As far as I know, the order can be as large as possible. So if you were planning on buying wakeboarding stuff anytime soon, it would be in all our best interests to go all HYPERLITE...Check back frequently for more info! | ||
| 1st Meeting In The BOOKS | ||
| Date: | 8:30 PM, Tuesday, May 3, 2005 | |
| Tonight, we met at the MTSU Rec Center @ 6:00 PM. There were 10 people in attendance: Daryl Simpson, Michael Williams, Winston Ballou, Zach Alvis, Chris Wolfgram, Bryan Mast, Andrew Sisson, Adam Conatser, Aaron Pirani, and Tim Grace. The meeting was held on fairly short notice so some interested students were unable to attend. If you were one of the people who missed, here is a brief summary of some of the topics we discussed. We talked about some of our duties as a Wakeboard Club and the types of things that we have to keep up to date with to remain active. We also talked about planning a time when we could all go out and ride together for the first time and get to know what the club will be all about. Since the boat is currently in the shop for maintainence, the exact date is still up in the air. We also discussed some fund raising ideas and ways that we could begin to build up our club bank account. Our Secretary, Zach Alvis, took down the names, e-mail addresses, and phone #'s of those who attended the meeting. If you missed the meeting for any reason and are still interested, please e-mail Chris Wolfgram at chw2f@mtsu.edu with your information so I can post it with the other members on the website. We briefly dicussed dues, but will hit the subject harder after we have all had a chance to hang out and ride together. Overall, the meeting went very well and I feel that the newcomers seemed equally interested in our cause. Thanks to all for the successful first meeting. | ||
