PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The Department of Social Work offers the undergraduate BSW degree which is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. The BSW degree prepares students for a beginning professional level of generalist social work practice. Social Work is a helping profession which provides vision and direction for addressing social problems, resolving interpersonal conflicts, confronting social issues and meeting human needs. It is committed to the enhancement of human well-being and to the alleviation of poverty and oppression among populations-at-risk.

Graduates of the program find employment in a diverse range of settings; including, Children & youth services, Family services agencies, Income maintenance programs, Substance abuse programs, Domestic violence programs, Vocational rehabilitation services, Homeless shelters, Public health agencies, Criminal justice agencies, Community action agencies, Schools (elementary & secondary), Nursing homes, Child welfare agencies, Hospices, Aging services, Hospitals, Residential treatment programs, Home care agencies, Mental retardation/developmental disabilities services.
