Facility Rec Staff

Facility Staff are responsible for providing patrons with quality customer service while supplying information, controlling access, checking out equipment, and monitoring the fitness areas. Facility staff maintain a safe environment by actively supervising activities and enforcing facility policies. Staff are trained to respond to emergencies according to the outlined Emergency Action Plans. Facility staff are also expected to maintain a clean facility by completing light cleaning/ maintenance, performing laundry duties, and completing other chores as assigned by the graduate assistant or student supervisor on duty. CPR/AED and First Aid certifications are required for all Facility Staff. Free certification classes will be taught to all new hires who are not currently certified, and employees are expected to maintain a current certification throughout their employment.

Responsibilities: 

  • Go above and beyond to give top notch customer service for all members and guests 
  • Attend staff meetings and complete training materials
  • Enforcement of Campus Recreation Policies and Procedures
  • Monitor, clean, organize and disinfect weight and cardio rooms
  • Sell guest passes, locker rentals, etc.
  • Check-in/out equipment
  • Work some special events outside of normal Campus Recreation hours
  • Monitor the front entrance • Answer phones
  • Act as a first responder for injuries, accidents and incidents that may occur in the facility
  • Other duties as assigned by Campus Recreation Professional staff and Shift Supervisors.

Qualifications:

  • Must be an MTSU Student
  • CPR/AED/First Aid Certified (Certification classes provided)
  • Strong Customer Service skills
  • Lift 45 lbs.
  • Motivated, pro-active, pays attention to detail.

 

Main Office Customer Service Attendant

The Main Office Customer Service Attendant is assigned to the front desk of the administrative offices and serves as the primary contact for students and patrons seeking assistance. Office Staff provides general assistance with transactions relating to programs and Recreation Center memberships. As a Customer Service Specialist, the impression you make on each visitor or phone conversation you conduct directly reflects on the department.  Always be as helpful as possible and make sure to provide correct information to anyone who calls or comes in the office.  You may be asked to do a number of different tasks that seem unimportant, but the work you are asked to do is valuable and not to be taken lightly.

Responsibilities:

  • Greeting and assisting visitors in person and via telephone
  • Knowledge of Campus Recreation Policies and Procedures
  • Process Recreation Center memberships for alumni, affiliates and MTSU staff families using software specifically designed for Recreation Centers
  • Accepting cash and credit cards for memberships and program sign ups
  • Be able to answer general questions concerning the Recreation Center and the MTSU campus
  • Attend staff meetings and complete training materials
  • Other duties assigned by Campus Recreation professional staff

Qualifications:

  • Must be an MTSU Student
  • Strong Customer Service skills
  • Available to work Monday – Friday, 8:00AM – 4:30PM
  • Prompt, dependable, pays attention to detail

Maintenance Assistant

Job Description: Assists in completing building repairs, contributes to special projects, and performs maintenance on fitness equipment.  No experience necessary.  Position will learn many useful skills.

Qualifications:

  • Flexibility to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Assist Recreation Center Technician in completing repairs and projects, while observing and becoming proficient in new tasks.
  • Complete assigned work orders and properly document paperwork.
  • Be pro-active in identifying problematic equipment and necessary repairs.
  • Use critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Be willing and able to learn new skills, gain experience, and desire to do a job well.
  • Must be an MTSU student.
  • Committed to being a dependable employee.
  • Attention to completing a quality, detailed job.
  • Ability to be trusted to complete tasks independently while meeting expectations.
  • Must be able to lift 45lbs.

Floor Technician

Job Description:  Ensures that the assigned floors are cleaned and maintained properly.  Satisfactorily sweep, tack, and auto scrub areas per schedule.  Light cleaning tasks also required.  Will train.

Qualifications:

  • Committed to being a dependable employee.
  • Attention to completing a quality, detailed job.
  • Ability to be trusted to complete tasks independently while meeting expectations.
  • Must be able to lift 45lbs.
  • Morning availability required.
