 Dr. Van Hein is a Senior Consultant for the Center for Organizational and Human Resource Effectiveness and a Professor of Psychology at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). She teaches employee selection, compensation, and general psychology. She received her Ph.D. in industrial-organizational psychology from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1992.

Dr. Van Hein has consulted with clients in various industries and government agencies. She has worked on projects regarding job analysis, employee selection, promotion, employee surveys, training needs analysis, training, performance appraisal, and workforce analysis.  In addition, Dr. Van Hein is a certified management coach and had done leadership coaching with government, education and business executives. Some of her past clients include Jack Daniel's, Eaton, Cracker Barrel, Square-D, TDOT, Tenet Health, Murfreesboro Police Department, Tennessee Board of Regents, Gaylord Entertainment, Brookdale Senior Living , City of Smyrna, Toshiba, and First Tennessee Bank.

Her research interests include selection, perceptions of fairness and justice in the workplace, and legal issues in human resource management. She has presented numerous papers at professional conventions and meetings and has published articles in the Journal of Applied Social Psychology, Psychological Bulletin and Public Personnel Management.  

Dr. Van Hein is also a member of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, the American Psychological Society, and the Society for Human Resource Management.
