Biography

Dr. Cottle is a 30+ year textile industry veteran who joined MTSU's program of Textiles, Merchandising, and Design in 2013.  He has held varying positions in the industry such as industrial engineering, manufacturing management, accounting, marketing, and sales.  He brings this expertise to the classroom each day.

Research/Scholarly Activity

Dr. Cottle's research stream focuses on analysis of high dimensional data generated by Three Dimensional (3D) Body Scanning as it pertains to the fit of apparel items to the human body, human health and wellness, and measuring physical activity intervention methods. The contribution to the textile and apparel field is the development of a definition of human body form and classification of human body form with the intent to improve the sizing and fit of apparel items.
