If your housing application is complete by the deadline posted on our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mtsu.edu\/living-on-campus\/dates\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.mtsu.edu\/living-on-campus\/dates\/\">Dates<\/a>&nbsp;page, you will be assigned a room lottery time. Current residents pick first, and then New residents. Beginning on your assigned&nbsp;room lottery&nbsp;date, you will then log in to our MT Housing Portal to access the room lottery process to look at available options and choose your room and roommate(s).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the room lottery process closes, students who applied after the deadline will be assigned based on their application completion date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once we are completely full, we will begin our Waiting List. Our Waiting List process is first-come first served, and we are only able to assign students off of the Waiting List if cancellations occur that permit us to do so. If you complete a Waiting List Application, you must complete all required steps above with the exception of the prepayment. This includes&nbsp;360 photos of Housing\u2019s traditional and quad-style residence halls and on-campus&nbsp;apartment locations. However, once the student makes application for housing, they will be bound by the terms of the license agreement, including payment for both the fall and spring semesters.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mtsu-blocks-expandable-item accordion-item expandable-heading expandable-heading-faq\"><h2 class=\"accordion-header\" id=\"headingcan-first-year-students-live-in-the-apartments\"><button class=\"accordion-button collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-bs-toggle=\"collapse\" data-bs-target=\"#collapsenewExpandablecan-first-year-students-live-in-the-apartments\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapsenewExpandablecan-first-year-students-live-in-the-apartments\">Can first-year students live in the apartments?<\/button><\/h2><div id=\"collapsenewExpandablecan-first-year-students-live-in-the-apartments\" class=\"accordion-collapse collapse expandable-content expandable-content-faq\" aria-labelledby=\"headingcan-first-year-students-live-in-the-apartments\" data-bs-parent=\"#newExpandable\"><div class=\"accordion-body\">\n<p>Because housing is awarded first-come first-served and not based upon classification, yes, first year students are able to live in the apartments. However, we do caution that it can be difficult for new students to find friends of similar age\/classification\/student status, as apartments tend to fill with returning residents. Along those same lines, it may be difficult to secure an apartment space as a new student because most spaces are usually filled by the time new residents&nbsp;begin the room lottery process.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mtsu-blocks-expandable-item accordion-item expandable-heading expandable-heading-faq\"><h2 class=\"accordion-header\" id=\"headingwhy-am-i-required-to-pay-the-350-prepayment\"><button class=\"accordion-button collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-bs-toggle=\"collapse\" data-bs-target=\"#collapsenewExpandablewhy-am-i-required-to-pay-the-350-prepayment\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapsenewExpandablewhy-am-i-required-to-pay-the-350-prepayment\">Why am I required to pay the $350 prepayment?<\/button><\/h2><div id=\"collapsenewExpandablewhy-am-i-required-to-pay-the-350-prepayment\" class=\"accordion-collapse collapse expandable-content expandable-content-faq\" aria-labelledby=\"headingwhy-am-i-required-to-pay-the-350-prepayment\" data-bs-parent=\"#newExpandable\"><div class=\"accordion-body\">\n<p>The prepayment fee denotes the student&#8217;s investment in an assignment based on the terms of the license agreement. The prepayment is applied toward housing costs, $175 for the fall term and $175 for the spring term, provided the student meets&nbsp;the terms of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mtsu.edu\/living-on-campus\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/58\/2024\/05\/housing-license-agreement.pdf\" data-type=\"attachment\" data-id=\"63\">license agreement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mtsu-blocks-expandable-item accordion-item expandable-heading expandable-heading-faq\"><h2 class=\"accordion-header\" id=\"headingdo-i-have-to-pay-350-even-though-i-wont-be-attending-mtsu-during-the-spring-term\"><button class=\"accordion-button collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-bs-toggle=\"collapse\" data-bs-target=\"#collapsenewExpandabledo-i-have-to-pay-350-even-though-i-wont-be-attending-mtsu-during-the-spring-term\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapsenewExpandabledo-i-have-to-pay-350-even-though-i-wont-be-attending-mtsu-during-the-spring-term\">Do I have to pay $350 even though I won&#8217;t be attending MTSU during the Spring term?<\/button><\/h2><div id=\"collapsenewExpandabledo-i-have-to-pay-350-even-though-i-wont-be-attending-mtsu-during-the-spring-term\" class=\"accordion-collapse collapse expandable-content expandable-content-faq\" aria-labelledby=\"headingdo-i-have-to-pay-350-even-though-i-wont-be-attending-mtsu-during-the-spring-term\" data-bs-parent=\"#newExpandable\"><div class=\"accordion-body\">\n<p>All applications are for the academic year which includes both fall and spring terms, so you do have to pay the $350 prepayment fee. However, as long as you do not enroll in Spring courses and cancel by the specified housing cancellation deadlines (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mtsu.edu\/living-on-campus\/dates\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"24\">see Dates page<\/a>) then you may be entitled to a portion of the prepayment returned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You must cancel your license agreement in writing, by either completing a Housing License Cancellation form or emailing a formal notice of cancellation to&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:housing@mtsu.edu\">housing@mtsu.edu<\/a>. Once non-registration has been confirmed (usually after February 1<sup>st<\/sup>) your housing prepayment will be applied as a credit to your student account and may be issued in the form of a refund if you do not owe the university money at that time.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mtsu-blocks-expandable-item accordion-item expandable-heading expandable-heading-faq\"><h2 class=\"accordion-header\" id=\"headingif-i-cancel-my-housing-do-i-get-my-prepayment-back\"><button class=\"accordion-button collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-bs-toggle=\"collapse\" data-bs-target=\"#collapsenewExpandableif-i-cancel-my-housing-do-i-get-my-prepayment-back\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapsenewExpandableif-i-cancel-my-housing-do-i-get-my-prepayment-back\">If I cancel my housing, do I get my prepayment back?<\/button><\/h2><div id=\"collapsenewExpandableif-i-cancel-my-housing-do-i-get-my-prepayment-back\" class=\"accordion-collapse collapse expandable-content expandable-content-faq\" aria-labelledby=\"headingif-i-cancel-my-housing-do-i-get-my-prepayment-back\" data-bs-parent=\"#newExpandable\"><div class=\"accordion-body\">\n<p>Our prepayment is never fully refundable except in the event a student is denied&nbsp;admission to MTSU.
