You may bring water and some snacks that can be consumed quietly. We encourage you to bring highlighters and scratch paper to use to help you solve the problems. In solving the problems, students learn about the diversity and consistency of language, while exercising logic skills. No prior knowledge of linguistics or second languages is necessary. Professionals in linguistics, computational linguistics and language technologies use dozens of languages to create engaging problems that represent cutting edge issues in their fields.&nbsp;Top performers on the open round will be invited to compete in the invitational round. The winners of the invitational round will be eligible to represent the USA at the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ioling.org\/upcoming\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">International Linguistics Olympiad<\/a>&nbsp;in Brasilia, Brazil, in July, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To register for the open round of the NACLO competition,&nbsp;go to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/naclo.org\/registration_page.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/naclo.org\/registration_page.php<\/a>.
