Charles G. Tucker

Charles Gilbert Tucker was born on 30 November 1940 to Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Tucker and was raised in Shelbyville, Tennessee. He studied industrial arts at Middle Tennessee State College, was a member of Pi Epsilon Tau fraternity, Sam Davis Drill Team, and the Track and Sabre Club, and was a distinguished cadet within the ROTC program. Tucker and his wife, Pamela, had two sons, Charles and Christopher. He commissioned in 1962 and served in the 114th Assault Helicopter Company in Vietnam.

Charles G. Tucker died in South Vietnam on April 6, 1965 when enemy .50 caliber ground fire hit the UH-1B helicopter he was piloting was on a close air support mission. Flying at 300 feet and 70 knots, Tucker's aircraft from the 114th Assault Helicopter Company took fire over the target area, crashed inverted, and exploded, killing all four crewman on board.

He previously had received the Distinguished Flying Cross.
