Voter Registration Information
Rutherford County encourages MTSU students to participate in local, county, state
and national elections.
To vote in elections in the State of Tennessee, one must be registered at least 30 days prior to the election date.Upon receiving and approving the voter registration application
form, the Rutherford County Election Commission will assign the individual a voting
precinct (where the voter will vote on election day based on residence address).
An individual who is registered to vote in their home county of residence and is
attending a university or college outside their home of voter record may request an
absentee ballot from their County Election Commission office (check with your county
election office for deadlines), and vote by absentee ballot. Or the student, if residing
in Rutherford County, may choose to change their county of residence (and spouse if
applicable), and register to vote in Rutherford County while attending MTSU (which
cancels voter registration in the previous county of residence), and then vote either
during the announced early voting period, or on election day.
Voter Registration applications and other election information may be obtained by
visiting the Rutherford County Election Commission website.
Voter cards are mailed to the voter's address provided on the registration application.
MTSU students living on campus should provide their residence address of 1301 East Main Street, with appropriate P.O. Box number or if mail is received by
general delivery.
Students with questions about any election process should call the Rutherford County
Election Commission at 615-898-7743, or email inquiries to election@rutherfordcounty.org. The Election Commission office is located at 1 Public Square South, Room 103, Murfreesboro,
TN 37130.

- Are a U.S. citizen
- Will be 18 years of age on/or before the next election
