Four MTSU students, faculty awarded Fulbright Fellowships

Fulbright gave professor chance to conduct research in Brazil
May 2011

In May Dr. Richard Pace, a professor in MTSU’s sociology and anthropology department, learned he had received a Fulbright Award. Pace has been in Brazil conducting “two timely projects that are part of my ongoing teaching and research specialties in the political ecology of Amazônia and media anthropology.”

Linguistics professor received Fulbright for year in Morocco
May 2011

Dr. Mohammed Albakry, associate professor of English at MTSU, received a coveted Fulbright Scholarship for a year’s residence in Morocco, where he's currently teaching linguistics at the University of Mohammad the Fifth. The university is one of the largest and the first modern university in the nation.

MTSU alum awarded Fulbright to conduct research in Tanzania
May 2011

August 2010 MTSU graduate Patrick Pratt received a Fulbright Award for U.S. Students. Pratt, 27, was chosen by the Fulbright committee to spend a year conducting research on poverty reduction in Tanzania at the University of Dar es Salaam’s Institute of Developmental Studies.

MTSU graduate earned Fulbright to teach in Spain for Year
April 2011

May 2011 graduate Kim Yarborough of Murfreesboro received a Fulbright U.S. Scholars Program award and was selected by Spain to teach English during the 2011-12 academic year. Yarborough was a University Honors College program participant with a double major in international relations and Spanish and a minor in economics.
