Agency History/Biographical Sketch

Lew Childre (1901-1961), born in Opp, Alabama, began his career as a vaudeville performer.  His performances were broadcast on radio in New Orleans, Dallas, Wheeling, the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, and on ABC-TV.

Provenance and Acquisition Information

These radio transcriptions of Lew Childre were loaned by Dr. Charles Wolfe for copying by the Center for Popular Music.  No date is know for the transferral.
