Political Science, Pre-Law Preparation Concentration , B.A.

The Pre-Law concentration in Political Science explores the political process as well as the American legal system. Cultivate skills in analytical thinking, research, writing, and communication while earning a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree. Pre-Law majors and minors benefit from the counsel of knowledgeable faculty who help them prepare for the challenges of law school and law-related fields of employment.

MTSU's proximity to the state capital provides unique opportunities for hands-on training and career placement, including paid internships with law firms and with Tennessee's Legislature. Our program has a proven history of preparing students for law school and careers in public policy through a curriculum that enriches students' understanding of not just the law, but also policymaking, politics, and social change.

Pre-Law students experience classroom learning as well as hands-on opportunities through internships, clubs, and intercollegiate academic teams. Department-supported organizations include Mock Trial, Mediation, and the Legal Studies Society. The department also offers free LSAT preparation workshops for students and sponsors speakers on political and legal topics. Students majoring in Political Science can choose a general focus or a concentration in either Public Policy and Management or Pre-Law.
