R rates are as much as 20% lower in some sub-populations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Task: Initial launch should specifically target the Black male population and other sub-populations (e.g., Pell-eligible, students on probation, transfer students)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Early Alert Program<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"is-style-compact-list wp-block-list\">\n<li>High-student touch<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Allows all members of success team (advisors and instructors) to be notified<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Low initial cost \u2013 already available through EAB Navigate<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Has been shown to increase student persistence and retention.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Short-Term Recommendations<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"is-style-compact-list wp-block-list\">\n<li>Implement early alert program for black, male sub-population of students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Structurally expand program to include other sub-populations (e.g., students on probation, REBOUND, transfer students)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Long-Term Recommendations<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"is-style-compact-list wp-block-list\">\n<li>Create Team\/Office to handle alerts to expand response to information gathering and future recommendations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Peer mentoring program for students with repeated\/multiple alerts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Recommendation 2: Increase support for existing systems focused on mental health services on campus<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"is-style-compact-list wp-block-list\">\n<li>Challenge: 79% of MTSU students reported moderate to severe psychological distress and 52% of students scored positive on a validated loneliness scale in 2022<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Task: Link\/coordinate systems and structures to create \u201cwrap-around care\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-lightgray-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-lightgray-background-color has-background is-style-wide\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2022 Update and Accomplishments<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"is-style-compact-list wp-block-list\">\n<li>Student Success check-ins were sent to professors of African American freshmen twice during Spring 2022.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mtsu.edu\/bfsa\/\">Black Faculty and Staff Association<\/a>&nbsp;(BFSA) has been re-established.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dr. Monica Smith hired as Assistant to the President for Inclusion and Community Engagement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Three Diversity Dissertation Fellows were hired.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The College of Education\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mtsu.edu\/fjecoe\/\">Center for Fairness, Justice, and Equity<\/a>&nbsp;has been established.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cMan Up Teacher Fellowship\u201d (MUTF) has begun efforts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Work Group<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Co-Chair:<\/strong>&nbsp;Michelle Arnold<\/td><td>Office of Student Success<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Co-Chair:&nbsp;<\/strong>Eric Oslund<\/td><td>College of Education<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Lando Carter<\/td><td>LT&amp;ITC<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Matthew Duncan<\/td><td>University Studies<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Andrienne Friedli<\/td><td>College of Basic and Applied Sciences<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Jonell Hinsey<\/td><td>Office of Student Success<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Jimmy Mumford<\/td><td>College of Liberal Arts<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Julie Myatt<\/td><td>MT Engage;
