Lawson Body Named to Conference USA All-Academic Team

DALLAS – Senior Samira Lawson Bodywas named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team for the second time, as announced Monday by the league office. Lawson Body's selection marks the fifth consecutive season a Middle Tennessee volleyball player has received the honor.

Academically, Lawson Body has made it onto the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and received a C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal in each season since arriving on campus. She will graduate in the Spring of 2022 with a degree majored in biology. Samira, along with many others on the current Blue Raider squad, continue the academic excellence Head CoachChuck Crawfordhas instilled since coming to Murfreesboro as she closes in on graduating with a 4.0 GPA.

On the court this season, Samira leads the Blue Raiders with 236 kills, 256.0 points, and seven double-doubles in 18 matches. She hit home a career-high 20 kills and a season high .439 attack percentage against Marshall on October 2. Lawson Body found her way onto the all-time kills list for the 25-point rally scoring era during the weekend series with Old Dominion, currently sitting in the ninth spot with 543 total kills.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have a 3.2 cumulative grade point average, at least a sophomore class standing, and be a starter or key reserve member of the squad. The selection is also based on a student-athlete's athletic performance.
