"Sophie has been a model student-athlete both on the course and in the classroom," head coach Chris Adams said. "We are so proud to have someone on our team who stands out among the many deserving student-athletes in Conference USA."

Burks sports a 3.8 GPA and earned a degree in exercise science in May. She has landed on the Dean's List every semester at MT and is a three-time WGCA All-American Scholar, four-time C-USA Academic Medal Winner, 2021 C-USA All-Academic selection and a member of both the Phi Kappa Phi and Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Societies.

On the course, she is a three-time All-Conference USA selection and is currently second on the team in stroke average at 75.1. Her 54-hole score of 205 (-11) at the USA Intercollegiate set a program record to start the 2021-22 season.
