Register a New Organization - Guidelines
The procedure for gaining University registration is relatively simple and is designed to assist prospective organizations in initiating their activities on a foundation of structure and efficiency.

- A guide to writing a Constitution
The first step in gaining University registration is to request provisional registration (see form). Approval of provisional registration will allow your group to utilize University facilities for business meetings for a period if thirty (30) days in order to complete the formal application process. No other activities, fundraising, sponsoring programs, social functions, are permitted. The official request to form a new organization should be submitted online through the www.mtsu.edu/mymt site.
During the thirty (30) day period of provisional registration, your group should complete the materials in the application packet. Please read all applications carefully before signing. Pay close attention to Sections A, B, and C of the Application for Registration of Student Organization. By signing each application, you are informing the University that you have read and understand all of the information in the registration process.
The Request to Form a New Organization should be submitted online through the www.mtsu.edu/mymt site. The application and accompanying documentation will be reviewed for clarification and corrections. When all of the documentation is in order, the Director of Student Organizations and Service will recommend appropriate action to the Vice President for Student Affairs. Upon receiving the Vice Presidents approval, the organization may enjoy all of the benefits of University-recognized organizations (scheduling meetings, conducting fundraisers, sponsoring programs, and applying for student activity fee funds).
Please review the material regarding general rules on student organizations contained in the MTSU Student Organization Handbook and the Student Code of Conduct. We will be happy to assist you with any questions you may have regarding the registration process.
