MTSU Stormwater Program strives to provide education for streams and rivers in our community.  We also provide educational and volunteer opportunities to our campus population.  Some of our projects have included campus cleanups, stream cleanups, wetland remediation, tree plantings, invasive plant removal, elementary environmental education and outreach booths.  We would love for you to join in and be part of our clean stream experience!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Murfreesboro’s National Public Lands Day 2025<\/mark><\/a><\/strong>
We joined the Stones River National Battlefield and more than a dozen local partners at Murfreesboro\u2019s Old Fort Park on Saturday September 27, 2025,\u202ffor National Public Lands Day. More than 170,000 volunteers throughout the nation worked together to help improve these treasured public lands. The event was the 32nd annual National Public Lands Day (NPLD), the largest single-day volunteer event for public lands in our country.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Garden Extravaganza – Saturday, June 14, 2025<\/mark><\/strong>
The event was coordinated in partnership with the Rutherford County Extension, Master Gardeners, and MTSU Stormwater to offer garden tours and speaker programs showcasing gardening tips for citizens throughout the day.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boat Day – June 21, 2025<\/mark><\/strong>
The 17th annual Boat Day event educated the community on the importance of water quality and paddling safety. Canoes, kayaks and paddles were provided for no charge. Attendees paddled on the water, saw live fish and played games on the shore of the Stones River. Local partners included Smyrna Stormwater and Outdoor Adventure Center, Murfreesboro Parks and Stormwater, MTSU Stormwater and Outdoor Recreation staff. Multiple agencies provided fun and educational hands-on activities for the community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
