{"id":2,"date":"2024-08-14T14:00:47","date_gmt":"2024-08-14T14:00:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mtsu.edu\/waterworks\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2026-05-04T01:28:00","modified_gmt":"2026-05-04T01:28:00","slug":"sample-page","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.mtsu.edu\/waterworks\/","title":{"rendered":"WaterWorks!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Tennessee WaterWorks!<\/strong>&nbsp;began as a water quality program&nbsp;to develop and provide statewide education and resources to protect local rivers in the 95 counties of Tennessee.&nbsp;The focus of the program was to educate citizens about stormwater, including ways to prevent pollution and promote clean rivers and streams in Tennessee through community outreach events, developing a wide variety of print media resources, and creating and distributing both audio and video public service announcements.&nbsp;Originally it was&nbsp;administered through the Middle Tennessee State University&#8217;s (MTSU) Center for Environmental Education under the Biology Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now,\u00a0MTSU is designated a permitted entity as an MS4 (Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System) under the NPDES (National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System) Permit Program under the TN Dept of Environment and Conservation. WaterWorks is currently adopted and\u00a0administered as part of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ehs.mtsu.edu\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/ehs.mtsu.edu\/\">Environmental Health &amp; Safety<\/a>\u00a0Department at MTSU and in partnership with the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.murfreesborotn.gov\/index.aspx?NID=288\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">City of Murfreesboro Water and Sewer Department&#8217;s Stormwater Program<\/a>\u00a0under a \u00a0co-permit.
