From Principles to Practice: Experiential Education (EXL)

Designing High Impact Assignments

Lead faculty members of the EXL Scholars Program will share an overview of the award winning experiential learning program at MTSU with a focus on course development, student interest, and several assignments unique to the EXL Scholars Program.  Faculty members will share their expertise regarding methods for incorporating experiential learning into academic courses, how to locate and foster community and corporate partnerships, and how to evaluate the students on the learning outcomes. Several service learning projects will be highlighted by faculty and student participants. Student feedback and assessment indicates such assignments contribute dramatically to student engagement and retention.  The presenters will also highlight the connections between the National Society for Experiential Education’s Eight Principles of Good Practice and several High-Impact Learning Experiences at MTSU.  We hope to see you there.
