  • 02/20/19 - Graduate Writing: Theses and Dissertations
    • Dr. James Hamby will cover how to get through the process of writing theses and dissertations.
  • 01/29/19 & 02/27/19 - Poster and Pitch
    • A workshop put on by the UWC and MTSU's Office of Research and Sponsored Programs meant to instruct the attendee in the principles of poster design and presentation. We will also discuss how to strengthen your existing posters, your 'elevator pitch', and how to best capture your audience.
  • 01/30/19 - As a Matter of Fact: Teaching Truth in the Era of Fake News
    • This program, run through the Learning, Teaching, & Innovative Technologies Center, will discuss how teach and discuss research in the era of 'Fake News', as well as how to evaluate various sources. The workshop will be led by Faculty from various disciplines: Jason Vance, Eric Detweiler, Patrick Richey, Christy Groves, James Hamby, Kristen West.
  • 4/26/16 - Finals Week Write-In
    • We know that even the best writers get blocked, sometimes. To help students de-stress and write their best during finals week, University Writing Center tutors hosted a write-in to provide help, one-on-one lightning sessions, and a productive atmosphere to MTSU students working on final projects.
  • 4/21/16 - Open Mic Night
    • As part of National Poetry Writing Month, the University Writing Center's Creative Writing Group hosted an open mic night. Poets, prose authors, and singer-songwriters came together to conquer one cozy coffeeshop with creativity!
  • 4/20/16: Timed Essay Writing Workshop
    • To help students prepare for timed essays during finals week, UWC tutors led a workshop that will introduced participants to the basics of understanding prompts, outlining an essay, and writing efficiently under a time limit. 
  • 4/14/16: Poetry Writing Workshop
    • As part of National Poetry Writing Month 2016, the University Writing Center led a workshop that introduced students to the basics of sonnet writing. Participants received a historical and organizational perspective on Shakespearian form, then worked with fellow writers to draft their own sonnets.
