The Aerospace Department at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) employs many highly qualified individuals for a variety of temporary hourly positions. Below is the contact information for each of these positions.
Flight Instructors (ASE, IA, and AME)

Flight School Ground Ops and Line Services
Individuals interested in a ground ops/line service position with MTSU should fill out the application linked below and attach a copy of their resume. Ground Ops/Line Services Employees are generally hired three times per year to coincide with the start of each academic term.

Job Descriptions
Ground Ops:
- Checking students out and in
- Invoicing flights
- Stocking paperwork in tower
- Ensuring printers have printer paper refilled
- Cleaning: dusting down counters, front lobby area, wiping down table etc.
- Filing
- Other duties as assigned
Line Services:
- Refueling aircraft
- Refueling fuel trucks with AV gas and regular fuel
- De-frosting
- Mixing glycol
- Maintaining Pre-heaters
- Organizing shed and maintaining the organization
- Going to campus to get regular fuel in MX truck both, to run it & tank in back
Student Ambassadors
The Department of Aerospace is now hiring student ambassadors to begin Summer or Fall 2023. Aerospace Student Ambassadors are specially selected Aerospace students who are trained to give tours, represent the department, and help with other outreach efforts. Student Ambassadors are part of the Aerospace Outreach Team and report to the Outreach Services Coordinator. Ambassadors are expected to be knowledgeable and professional representatives of the department and university at all times.

Maintenance Staff

CRJ (Training Device) Instructors
Individuals interested in a CRJ instructor position with MTSU should email a copy of their resume to the Professor Peter Neff. Click here to email your resume. Candidates should be Part 121 current, or have recent experience (within last 12 months). 12 months (or 500 hours) Part 121 experience required. CRJ series and CFI experience preferred.
Hiring will be based on experience, interview, and/or training device session. Fixed-duration standardization will be compensated. If not current on the CRJ series, uncompensated classroom training will be required prior to attending standardization.
