Scholarships and Awards
Listed below are the Human Sciences Department Scholarships. The scholarships are awarded based on eligibility requirements and chosen by the Human Sciences Scholarship Committee. The amount for each scholarship is determined by the accumulated interest each year.
Undergraduate and Incoming Freshman applications may be submitted October 1 - February 15 each year. Helpful information on scholarships and financial aid can be found here: www.mtsu.edu/financial-aid.

Incoming Freshmen
Mary Neal Alexander Scholarship - Recipient must graduate from a high school in Tennessee; an incoming freshman majoring in Human Sciences (Home Economics); a minimum high school GPA 2.5 and ACT 25; and enrolled full-time student during the semesters for which the scholarship is funded.
Christine & Roddy Memorial Scholarship - Preference is given to Rockvale or Lascassas graduate; the recipient must be an incoming freshman majoring in one of the Human Sciences programs; a minimum high school GPA 2.8 or ACT 18; and enrolled full-time student during the semesters for which the scholarship is funded.
Undergraduate Students
Adams Family Foundation Scholarship - The recipient must be a major in one of the Human Sciences areas, Classification of junior, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, have financial need, and enrolled full-time during the semesters the scholarship is funded.
Albert L. and Ethel Carver Smith Memorial Scholarship - The recipient must be major in one of the Human Sciences areas; classification of sophomore or junior in the spring semester (at least 30 semester hours earned or having two remaining semesters); have a minimum 3.0 GPA; have financial need; and enrolled full-time during semesters for which scholarship is funded.
Rita Davenport Human Sciences Scholarship - The recipient must be a major in one of the Human Sciences areas; classification of sophomore or junior in the spring semester (at least 30 semester hours earned or having two remaining semesters); have a minimum 2.8 GPA; demonstrated leadership in the areas of Human Sciences, campus life, and community involvement; established meaningful professional goals; and enrolled full-time during semesters for which scholarship is funded.
Margaret Putnam Scholarship - The recipient must major in Family & Consumer Sciences Education; have a minimum 2.5 GPA; admission to Teacher Education by the end of semester in which application is submitted; completion of at least 16 hours at MTSU with a minimum of 7 hours completed in Human Sciences courses prior to application; demonstrate pre-professional involvement, and enrolled full-time during semesters for which scholarship is funded.
Ernestine N. Reeder Honor Scholarship - The recipient must be a major in one of Human Sciences areas; completion of 18 hours in the Human Sciences Department; have a minimum 3.0 GPA; be an active member of at least one of the student organizations in the Human Sciences Department; establish meaningful professional goals; and enrolled full-time during semesters for which scholarship is funded.
Roddy Memorial Scholarship - The recipient must be a graduate of a Rutherford County public or private high school with preference given to residents of Lascassas or Rockvale; a major in one of the Human Sciences areas; classification of freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior in the spring semester and having at least one remaining semester; have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and enrolled full-time during semesters for which scholarship is funded.
Lucy Dye Scholarship - The recipient must be a major in one of the Human Sciences programs; have an overall 3.0 grade point average or higher while carrying a full student load; be from one of the following counties in Tennessee: Cheatham, Davidson, Dickson, Lewis, Montgomery, Robertson, Rutherford, Sumner, Williamson, Wilson, and enrolled full-time during semesters for which the scholarship is funded.
