Developing or Updating Your Teaching Philosophy Statement (TPS)
There are several possible purposes of a Teaching Philosophy Statement (TPS): It is typically required when applying for an academic teaching position; it is frequently required when submitting promotion and tenure materials or when applying for teaching-related awards or honors; it can be a useful tool for your self-reflection about teaching; and it can be provided to your students as an overview of how you will be teaching them. This workshop will discuss best practices for creating an effective TPS, including things you should and should not include in your document. Specific TPS examples for different audiences will be presented and discussed.
