and Dejected: Does Social Media Affect Your Mental Health?” on Tuesday, Sept. 21 at
4:30 p.m. in Room 104 of the Bragg Media & Entertainment Building. The event will
include a screening of the movie “The Social Dilemma” followed by a panel discussion
of social media and mental health. Attendees are encouraged to participate in the
discussion and share their own experiences using social media. Free pizza slices will
be available at the conclusion of the event.
ePortfolio Writing; Engaging in Reflection to Establish Connections

Reflective writing is an important component in ePortfolios, but engaging in reflection
can be challenging. The University Writing Center (UWC) and MT Engage have paired
up to help! During MT Engage week 2021, the UWC ePortfolio Program Coordinator will
facilitate a 60 min., interactive reflecting writing workshop designed to help students deepen their reflective practice.
Students will be introduced to a reflective process that helps them brainstorm ideas,
connect their academic and lived experiences, and make new meaning out of their reflections.
Students will also consider how to write reflectively for a variety of audiences:
MT Engage scholarship judges, MTSU faculty, and potential employers/graduate school
admissions. Free sandwiches!

The Tunnel of Love is a walk-through event that provides students with information
about the transmission and prevention of sexually transmitted infections. Students
will be presented with information about common STIs, safer sex, and abstinence. Nashville Cares will be providing free HIV testing and students from HLTH 3000 ,Service
Learning in Health Education, will be doing condom demonstrations and providing education
materials. The Tennessee State Department of Health will also be providing information
and giving away items.

The Chemistry Career Fair will be returning this year on September 30th, 2021 from 12-3 pm in the Science Building Atrium. We welcome all students to attend
and explore exciting opportunities. The chemistry department and pre-professional
health sciences strive to bring employment prospects, internship positions, and options
for furthering education at other institutions in the region.
The University will be offering resume workshops and events to assist students prepare
for meeting with these prospective schools and companies. The Chemistry Department
is offering our annual resume workshop on September 22nd from 4-5 pm in the Science
Building (SCI), Room 1191. The Career Development Center will be offering a their
Job Search Jumpstart event on Thursday, September 23rd from 12-1 pm in Keathley University
Center (KUC), Room 324.

Have you ever wanted to learn more about our Makerspace? We're happy to bring back
one of our favorite events with the Makerspace Open House, brought to you in partnership
with MT Engage. Join us on Wednesday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. as we feature demos
from our 3D printers, laser etcher, robotics, virtual reality, and so much more. In
addition to all of this, our staff will be on hand to answer questions about how to
get started and the best ways to utilize the equipment. We hope to see you there!
The Walker Library Makerspace is an active learning environment for students, faculty,
and staff to use technology to participate in experiential project-based learning.
The value of the Makerspace experience is in innovation and access — the creation
of new solutions to problems using technology that is accessible to all, despite academic

The COVID-19 pandemic significantly disrupted our daily lives and brought various
inequalities to light. During the pandemic, racialized police violence, anti-Blackness,
gender inequities, and Anti-Asian rhetoric and violence appeared in the media daily
and affected many of us directly. The pandemic further illuminated social and economic
needs of vulnerable communities. In the face of visible injustice and inequity, community
agencies and campus organizations have been essential. At the outdoor fair, students
will have the opportunity to learn more about various local agencies, both on and
off campus, who provide resources and services related to social justice, racial justice,
and well-being during times of crisis.
