Degree Information

  • Ph.D., Cornell University, NY (1994)
  • M.E.S., Yale University (1987)
  • B.S., Yale University (1985)

Areas of Expertise

My empirical research is focused on the molecular systematics, biogeography and evolution of butterflies, mainly in the family Nymphalidae. I am also interested in theoretical principles and methods of systematic biology and biological nomenclature.  I have a longstanding focus on the evolution of geographical variation and mimicry in the neotropical genus Heliconius.
