Biography

Jared Reynolds teaches Genre and Style. After graduating Belmont University in 1998 with a B.A. in English and Spanish Literature, he began his musical career as a session background vocalist, working with producers and artists such as Ray Kennedy, Jim Lauderdale, R.S. Jared Reynolds teaches Genre and Style. After graduating Belmont University in 1998 with a B.A. in English and Spanish Literature, he began his musical career as a session background vocalist, working with producers and artists such as Ray Kennedy, Jim Lauderdale, R.S. Field, and Allison Moorer. From 2004-2010 he joined Ben Folds as a session and touring bassist/vocalist, playing on many major releases including Songs For Silverman and Way to Normal. In addition to Folds, Reynolds also toured and recorded with Brendan Benson of the Raconteurs. As a Producer/Mixer, he helmed recordings by artists including Eef Barzelay (Clem Snide), The Clutters, and The Greenhornes.

Over the course of his career he performed with a diverse range of artists including William Shatner, Amanda Palmer (Dresden Dolls), Joe Jackson, Kid Rock, Regina Spector, David Allan Coe, John Davis (Superdrag), Weird Al Yankovic, Josh Groban, Henry Rollins, and many others. As a writer, Reynolds spent time as the Editor of the "Late Nite Music Club" for Crooks and Liars.

Reynolds' extensive touring and recording experience has shaped a unique perspective and passion for music that he enjoys sharing with his students. His class provides songwriting students a holistic view of both Genre and Style, exposing them to the artists, records, songs, and movements that shaped the trajectory of Popular Music.
